In the pesticide field, it serves as an intermediate for the fungicide Diniconazole, as well as for the herbicides Benzothiazole and Pyrazolate. In dyes and organic synthesis, it is used in dye manufacturing and other organic synthesis reactions. Other applications include its use in preparing flame retardants and antioxidants for silicone rubber, and in reacting with compounds such as guanidine and pyridine to generate substances with neuroprotective or antifungal activity. ============================================================================== The industrial synthesis of 2,4-dichlorobenzoic acid mainly follows the following route: Starting with 2,4-diaminotoluene, a diazotization reaction is carried out in the presence of sulfuric acid and sodium nitrite. The generated diazonium salt undergoes a chlorination displacement reaction under the catalysis of cuprous chloride to obtain 2,4-dichlorotoluene. 2,4-Dichlorotoluene is then oxidized with potassium permanganate to form potassium 2,4-dichlorobenzoate. Finally, it is acidified with hydrochloric acid, followed by crystallization, washing, and drying to obtain the final product, 2,4-dichlorobenzoic acid. This method is mature, has a relatively high yield (about 85%), and is currently the mainstream industrial preparation route.
